Cancer Council Victoria SunSmart Global UV App Privacy Notice

This SunSmart Global UV application (“App”) is owned and operated by the Cancer Council Victoria (“CCV”, “us” or “we”). This Privacy Notice describes the information that CCV collects, processes and discloses through your use of the App. In addition, CCV’s Privacy Policy applies to the App and services made available by CCV on its “cancervic.org.au” website.

CCV’s collection and use of personal data in the course of its ownership and operation of the App complies with the applicable provisions of Australian privacy laws and the General Data Protection Regulation.

 

Data we collect when you use the App

General use of the App

We do not require you to create an account, or to provide your name or email address, in order to use the App or any of its features. However, when you use the App, we do collect certain data about your mobile device and your use of the App. We collect the following information – some of which may be considered personal information – when you use the App:

  • System Data. This consists of technical data about your device:
    • IP address
    • Device type
    • Operating system type and version
    • Unique device identifiers
  • Usage Data. This consists of usage statistics about your interactions with the App, including the App pages visited, the time spent on each page, the date and time of your App usage, and the features and resources you accessed or used.
  • Approximate Geographic Data. We collect an approximate geographic location, including information like country, city, calculated based on your truncated IP address. If you are using a mobile device, your mobile device’s geographic location (specific geographic location if you have enabled collection of that information, or general geographic location automatically).
  • Analytical Data. This consists of marketing analytics and data on App traffic, collected via Google Analytics and AppsFlyer on a de-identified and aggregated basis.

General use of the App

We may collect personal data, such as your name and email address, when providing you with generic support services or responding to an enquiry you may have about the App. This information is collected only from you and with your knowledge and permission.

How we use the data we collect

We collect and process the information described above to:

  • Operate the App and provide the content and features available through the App.
  • Analyse information about how you use the App to provide in order to improve user experience, including product testing and analytics. It also enables us to understand any issues with the App and fix or improve them.
  • Assist you in the event you encounter a technical glitch or error in the App.
  • Communicate with you if you have a query or suggestion about the App.

Our legal basis for collecting and processing this information is the performance of our contract with you (to provide the app). We also have a legitimate interest in collecting usage and analytics data for correcting errors and improving the features of our App.

How long we retain your data

This information is collected for as long as your App is installed on your device and used, and is retained in our systems for as long as is necessary for the purposes of providing you with the App. Our service providers may retain your data for longer periods of time for as long as they have a legitimate interest to retain it.

Third parties who receive your data

We use certain third-party services to help us operate the App. Below is a list of the third-party services that receive data in order to assist us in providing the App:

Apple App Store

When you download the App from the Apple App Store, Apple may log data, including identifiers such as your device’s hardware ID and IP address along with your Apple ID. Apple may use that data as set forth at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210584. Also see Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Google Play Store

When you download the App from the Google Play Store, Google collects information, including unique identifiers browser type and settings, device type and settings, operating system, mobile network information including carrier name and phone number, and application version number of the App. Google also collects information about the interaction of your apps, browsers, and devices with their services, including IP address, crash reports, system activity, and the date, time, and referrer URL of your request. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to help us analyse how users use the App and its features. The information collected by Google Analytics about your use of the App comprises limited de-identified and aggregated analytical data, including your general geographic location and all your interactions with the App . Google's ability to use the limited information collected by Google Analytics about your use of the App is governed by the Google Analytics Privacy Policy and Terms. Google Analytics offers an opt out feature that you can access by going to your “Settings” tab, toggle “off” the “Google Analytics” setting. However, any information collected by Google Analytics prior to you opting out will continue to be retained by Google Analytics.

AppsFlyer

We use AppsFlyer to help us analyse how users use the App and its features. The information collected by Appsflyer about your use of the App comprises limited de-identified and aggregated analytical data, including your general geographic location and all your interactions with the App. This means that AppsFlyer will not be able to identify you based on the data they are going to have access to.

Updates to this policy

We may occasionally update this privacy notice, including when you install App updates with new features and functionalities. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date posted at the bottom of this privacy notice page.

If we make any material changes in the way we collect, process or share personal information, we will notify you via the App, for example, by posting a message in the app or sending you a notification if enabled on your device.
