UV training & education

Skin cancer can result from repeated and long-term exposure to UV radiation in the workplace. UV radiation is, therefore, a workplace hazard that must be reduced as much as reasonably practicable.

To help workplaces address their OH&S responsibilities, we’ve developed a range of UV safety training and education.

Our experienced educators run training sessions (face-to-face and online) in all types of workplaces right across Victoria. Sessions are tailored to the workplace so employers and employees walk away with a clear idea on immediate steps to take to reduce UV exposure in their environment.

Feedback from the training sessions show:

  • Training is useful and productive: 96% of participants agreed or strongly agreed that the session provided useful information about skin cancer prevention and detection.
  • Sessions are engaging: 95% said the session maintained their interest.
  • Sessions are educational: 93% indicated the session had taught them something new.

Read what workplaces have said about our sessions

The City of Monash engaged SunSmart Victoria to run a UV Safety Training webinar for employees. The presenters were professional, thorough and willing to answer any question thrown their way. The presentation provided an array of useful information and was consistently engaging. We highly recommend engaging in SunSmart Victoria’s services

Gemma McCooke, City of Monash

Recently our organisation organised two sessions of SunSmart webinar training. The presentation was very well presented by both Mark and Justine with the participants able to ask questions regarding the material at various times. Overall the presentation took just under an hour and it was delivered at an easy pace which helped our staff take in the key messages. I would recommend this presentation to any organisation that has staff working remotely.

Matt, Brimbank City Council

A very well presented ‘brass tacks’ webinar by the SunSmart team provided an opportunity for our Victoria employees to be reminded and re-educated upon Ultra Violet Radiation exposure and the risk to personal health and wellbeing. It was a necessary session to remind avoiding the issue of complacency particularly around not focussing upon daily temperature values, but to understand the realities of an invisible everyday threat and how to protect for long term wellbeing, that of our colleagues and also family members too.

Andrew, SMEC
